An art-science crossover has provided graphic evidence of the body’s ability to digest processed foods.
In collaboration with Harvard gastroenterologist Dr Branden Kuo, artist Stefani Bardin fed two subjects two similar meals.
One received Gatorade, instant ramen, and gummi bears, while the other got handmade noodles, hibiscus tea, and pomegranate-cherry juice gummies.
The results, recorded on a pill-sized camera, show how difficult it is to digest processed foods.
After two hours, the processed ramen looked much like it did before digestion.
