The TGA has approved trastuzumab (Herceptin®) for the treatment of advanced gastric cancer.
The approval follows results from the phase III trastuzumab in gastric cancer (ToGA) clinical study that showed trastuzumab in combination with standard chemotherapy prolongs the lives of patients with HER2-positive advanced gastric cancer compared to chemotherapy alone (13.8 months vs.11.1 months).
