Who should be doing surveillance endoscopies?

“Is there anybody in the room who would be prepared to have a colonoscopy done by a colonoscopist working in this country selected at random?”
Roland Valori, England’s National Clinical Director for endoscopy, asks this of audiences all over the world.
When he asked it of a packed room at Australian Gastroenterology Week 2010, not a single person raised their hand.
“You’ll be reassured to hear that nobody ever puts up their hand,” he said.
“So if the Australian public was here, and they knew what we all in this room know, what would they think?”
Dr Valori told Gastroenterology Update that if the public did know this, they would want to know how to tell how good their colonoscopist...
