Better education is needed for Australian women with IBD since almost 50% of those at child-bearing age have poor knowledge of pregnancy-related issues in IBD, conclude the authors of a UK and Australian study presented in a poster at ECCO in Barcelona.
Of the 145 Australian women in the study, the researchers found less than 30% had good or very good knowledge, and 44.8% had poor knowledge.
Lead author Dr Christian Selinger from Salford Royal Hospital in the UK said a more proactive approach was needed from doctors.
